A Note from the Architect

Sika Woods is an exciting development of new housing in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow. The scheme combines our experience in exemplary one-off houses with an interest in the broader conversation about good housing. Typically housing design ignores the fact that good space, light and connection to nature are vital to our wellbeing. Our vision here is to create a positive, bright and healthy environment to enhance quality of life.

The orientation of the rows of houses are to maximise day light and sunlight, whilst their arrangement on site is to bring nature in and frame the rolling Wicklow landscape. The houses themselves are genuinely generous. Each house has a 12 foot tall ‘Georgian room’ with great ‘flow’ to outside. The distinctive pitched roofs and gable ends are reminiscent of Irish cottages. For us, the project is about bringing the skills of sensitively designed houses into multiple housing.

We believe Sika Woods will offer an exciting alternative in housing design in Ireland.

View from Sika Woods

The homes at Sika Woods are large and spacious, with many unique features and finishes. Modern design features such as concrete cills and black aluminium window frames marry with rural Sixties materials like white wet dash exteriors to produce fresh and unique houses that are eye-catching and attractive.

Buyers can choose between semi-detached and detached houses in a range of layouts. The semi-detached houses feature a roof sloping higher to the back, which allows for Georgian-height living and master bedroom spaces. Our very large detached houses feature double height living spaces, which are flooded with natural light and incredible views thanks to the large windows.

Sika Woods is located adjacent to the beautiful Powerscourt demesne with a stunning aspect to the South towards the Sugar Loaf. Recognising that space, light and connection to nature is vital for wellbeing, each house is designed to maximise day light and the remarkable views of the surrounding Wicklow countryside.
